A LITTLE ABOUT ME...

I was raised in Georgetown. I attended Toronto Metropolitan University where I received my Bachelor of Applied Arts in Radio and Television. After graduation, I worked for MuchMusic/CHUM Ltd., doing my dream job for twelve years. I loved my time in music television, but felt it was time to pursue my other dream of working with children. I attended the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. After graduation, I worked as a secondary teacher for the Peel District School Board.

In 2009 I began battling Lyme disease. I wasn't diagnosed until 2014, which has meant that my recovery can still be challenging. After I started to feel a little better, I found I really missed giving back and working with kids. I started tutoring students with a focus on students with IEPs. This area became of interest to me after working with my neurodivergent child and realizing the lack of resources that suited her needs.

In 2018 my husband and I created The Ironwood Project, a non-profit that supports adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. As the wife of a survivor, I became painfully aware of the lack of resources for survivors and their families. Ironwood is now it its sixth year of offering support groups. I host a group for partners and parents of survivors.

I became an Emotional Health Practitioner because it melds my desire to help with my strengths. Being able to teach people the tools they need to shore up their emotional wellness feels like a wonderful way to branch out from what I am already doing.

I know finding someone you trust to work with, for yourself or your child or teen, can be challenging. Please reach out with any questions you may have.

My Balance

One of the lessons we learn about in Neural Network Therapy is called The Balance.
Below are the nine squares that make up my current Balance grid. Grids evolve, become unbalance and then balanced again. Everyone's grid look will different depending on what is important to them and what their current priorities are.

Quality of Food

Nutrition

Working toward a more sustainable and healthy diet. Progress not perfection.

Walking

Movement

Walking with my dog and taking Pilates classes help me move my body.

The Beach

Relaxation

The sound of the water and the feel of the sand underneath my toes always bring me peace.

Familial Love

Family

My big family offers me lots of opportunities to support and to be supported. Knowing I have a whole crew that has my back gives me confidence to go out in the world and kick some butt.

Romantic Love

Relationship

A once in a lifetime love that found me twice. It must be nurtured and protected. My husband is my soft place to land and most ardent supporter

Platonic Love

Friendship

Laughter and shenanigans that feed my soul. Where ideas and passions are welcomed and love is given freely.

Continued Learning

Education

Life long learning is important to me. I want to continue to learn, grow and discover new things.

Career

Starting my own practice is a new challenge for me. It looks different than I may have ever dreamed, but it feels good to take this step.

Growth and Compassion

Contribution

My husband and I co-founded a non-profit in 2019. The Ironwood Project is helping adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse heal. I am proud of what Ironwood has accomplished.
